Lord of the Ringsathon

Yesterday was the annual Lord of the Ringsathon. We sit and watch all three Lord of the Rings movies consecutively. It is 12 hours long and we get a ton of junk food all day. It was a lot of fun. There were surround sound speakers that were turned up really loud. Unfortunately, the next day is not real pleasant. I am extraordinarily tired, but it was all worth it.

Panera and Princess Leia

Today I went to Panera bread with my mom because she had a meeting. The person she was meeting with brought her kids. Her youngest is an 8 year old princess. My hair was in two braids and the princess decided to do my hair. She twisted each braid up individually on the sides of my head. I looked like Princess Leia from Star Wars. All the simple little things that life can bring from a little breakfast and a little princess.

Happy belated Birthday Daddy!

Saturday was Dad's birthday. We went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and then got a cheesecake from Bakers Square for dessert. Sunday Dad did not go to church because he was not feeling too good. Monday we found out that he had strep throat so now we are all being really careful trying not to catch it. Misty is being very caring with all of us, but especially Dad. Right now Caleb is laying on the floor and she is licking his face making sure there are no leftovers from lunch.

Choir started last night and I am enjoying learning the new songs. Well, it actually started last week, but I could not make it then. So this was my first week. Both the songs are really pretty, but singing second soprano is very difficult sometimes. Especially when there are only four of us and a bunch of first sopranos.

Misty LOVES snow!

Misty was bouncing around in the snow wearing her little pink coat and enjoying herself immensely!

She was barking at the snow while Dad threw it up in the air from while he shoveled.

Her getting buried in the snow that was thrown over her head.

Piano Lessons and More Snow

Well, we got our snow back. We are supposed to get over a foot of snow tonight. YES!!!! There is so much snow already out there I am almost scared to see how much more we are going to get.

I restarted piano for the school year yesterday. I love my new books. They are pretty easy as of right now, but it is mostly review stuff. The piece that I have looks really hard, but after inspecting it I do no think it will be that bad. There are A TON of rests so it looks really busy.

No more snow! :(

Well, I don't want to make excuses, but I have not been on my blog the last couple days because of a minor finger injury Sunday afternoon. I was playing piano and my knuckle made a weird pop sound and then it hurt so bad I could not straighten it or put any pressure on it. That also means I could not type. It is better now thankfully, since my piano lessons start again this week.

On another topic, all our snow has melted!!! It rained last night and now we have no snow. :( This makes me very mad. We should not have green grass in Chicago in January. That is wrong. Thankfully, the weather people say it is going to snow again later this week. I hope they are right!

Snow, Cookies, and Tap dancing

Today was the first snow of the year! I am so excited since we did not have a white Christmas or New Year. There is a ton of snow and it is extremely windy right now.

I was in the kitchen baking cookies when I had a brilliant idea. We just got choreography for our tap dance class and I was bored waiting while the cookies were in the oven. So I went and put my tap shoes on and started dancing. This is now one of my favorite things to do. Tap dance and bake at the same time.

A day in the life

So here is what one of my school days usually looks like.
I wake up and slowly convince my self to climb out of bed. Then I do several school subjects and eat breakfast. Getting dressed will occur sometime before lunch on a normal day. I usually spend about an hour on my computer doing history. Then it is time for lunch. After lunch, my school is done and I get to do whatever. This consists of playing on my piano, listening to music, goofing off outside, or coming up with dance routines to random songs. Dad comes home and dinner is served. After dinner, I continue with whatever I was doing before dinner. Who knows what that may actually be. Then I get ready for bed and climb up the ladder to my bunk bed. In the middle of a story I was composing in my head, I drift off into dream land. Then the day starts all over again.

Courageous

Last night I went to go see the new movie "Courageous". If you have not seen it, I highly suggest to do so. It is done by the same people who did "Fireproof" and "The Blind Side" and "Facing the Giants". There are a lot of sad parts, but the funny parts come in at just the right times. I did not adore the other three movies that they made, but "Courageous" is now one of my favorite movies. It is rated PG-13. I do not really see why. It is completely clean. There are a few parts that little kids do not need to see, but I think kids over about 10 would be fine. Maybe even younger. Make sure to read the closed captions while Javier is talking in the police car. That is all I will tell you. Anyone who has seen it knows exactly what part I am talking about. Overall, it is an awesome movie. I cannot rate it high enough.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everybody!! (I was going to say happy belated new year, but it is still a new year so I think that still works.) There are a lot of people thinking up what good new years resolutions would be and wondering if there is any possible way of keeping them. At church yesterday, Pastor Greene was finishing up the Christmas story in his sermon and he said that one of the best new years resolutions we could make was to be like the shepherds. They immediately went to see their king and then they ran out to tell the world what they saw. Even though we cannot go and see Jesus, we can still find him in the Bible and then go tell the world. I hope everyone has a joyful 2012!

Tomorrow our youth group at church is going to FMSC (Feed My Starving Children) to pack food. I know it sounds like I'm there a lot, but I am usually only there with the youth group (once a year) and Caleb's birthday (sometimes my birthday too). I just had an extra one last year, which is fine my me!

So what happened to me in 2011...

I got to go to Alaska to see my Grandparents, Cousins, and my Aunt and Uncle.

My family went to Colorado for my Great Grandma's birthday and to see my Grandma on my Dad's side.

I started a mission trip to Canada for teenage girls at our church, which is still coming together.

I started high school.

That seems like about it, other than getting to spend time with my family and friends. Once again HAPPY NEW YEAR!
